Sandy Greenwood is a Gumbaynggirr, Dunghutti and Bundjalung Traditional Custodian and native title holder with a distinguished career as a Cultural Consultant, Writer, and Cultural Educator in both Australia and the United States. With deep ancestral connections to her land, culture, and community, Sandy brings over two decades of experience in the creative industries, with a strong focus on authentic First Nations representation across film, television, theatre, publishing, audio, education, corporate, and not-for-profit sectors.
Sandy is frequently engaged by organisations across Australia and the US to consult on projects that require informed, respectful, and culturally authentic representation of Indigenous culture, character, and story—both ancient and contemporary.
Sandy holds a postgraduate degree in Drama and has worked extensively as a stage actor and voice artist with leading theatre companies in Australia and the US. Between 2015 and 2019, during her four-year residency in the US, she worked in Hollywood as an actor and independent producer, and in Silicon Valley as a Presenter and Cultural Consultant for the environmental non-profit Global Mana.
In 2019, Sandy founded Jinda Productions, a dynamic First Nations production company specialising in stage and screen storytelling, cultural education, and consultancy services. Her critically acclaimed debut play Matriarch won two prestigious Green Room Awards and is currently being adapted into a non-fiction book by Bonnier Books, UK.
Sandy made her directorial debut with the documentary Nguura Muruy, which was officially selected for the Eugene Environmental Film Festival in the US and received the 2025 International Solid Screen Award.
Sandy’s work continues to bridge cultural knowledge systems and creative practice, empowering communities, and industries to embed genuine First Nations perspectives at every level of their storytelling and engagement.
