Haydn Butler is a writer and director living in Sydney.  His debut feature film Home Kills premiered at the New Zealand International Film Festival, and MIFF 37 South in 2023. The film has since screened on Channel 9, SBS On-Demand, Neon, Rialto and Amazon Prime in Australia/New Zealand and gained worldwide distribution.

2024, Haydn was awarded Best Director by the Australian Directors Guild.

Earlier in his career, Haydn wrote and directed factual and scripted TV for major networks including MTV, Nickelodeon and Channel 10 in Australia. While living in the UK, he received UK Film Commission funding for his short film Furnace Four, which screened at festivals around the world.

His comedy series Crash the Bash was nominated for a Logie in 2017. The following year, he wrote and produced the acclaimed MTV Australia docu-series The Veronicas: Blood Is for Life.

Haydn has a diverse development slate including a horror feature Vessel, a six-part series based on his gritty rural thriller, Home Kills and a true crime series Girl in the Shadows, based on an unsolved murder in 2022.
