Nadia Tass is an award-winning director working across theatre, film and television in Australia and the United States. Her internationally acclaimed debut feature film Malcolm (1986) won the AFI Best Director award and the Byron Kennedy Award for pursuit of excellence. Nadia went on to direct and co-produce the features Rikky and Pete and The Big Steal, and in 1990 she directed her US debut for Universal, Pure Luck, starring Danny Glover and Martin Short. Other feature credits include Mr Reliable (1996) and Amy (1998) starring Rachel Griffiths. For television, Nadia directed the BBC UK / ABC Australia mini-series Stark (1993), based on Ben Elton’s best-selling novel. In the States, she has directed The Miracle Worker and Child Star: The Shirley Temple Story for ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney, and Undercover Christmas for CBS. Produced by Julia Roberts, Nadia has directed three films in the An American Girl Holiday series for Warner Brothers; Samantha (2004), Felicity (2005) and Addy (2007). Nadia regularly returns to theatre and was nominated for a 2003 Helpmann Award for her direction of the music theatre production of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. |
