Caleb Lewis is a prolific writer best known for his breakthrough play Nailed. Following a mentorship with Nick Enright, Caleb began a two-year residency at Sydney’s Griffin Theatre Company, which culminated in the world premiere production of Nailed in 2005. His collection of short plays, Songs for the Deaf was produced by FreshTrack Productions for the Adelaide Fringe Festival, and recently toured to Hong Kong. Caleb has completed several commissions including Clown Empire for Jigsaw Theatre Company and Crystal for Riverland Youth Theatre Company. In 2007, The Sea Bride won the Theatrelab Emerging Playwright Award, resulting in a two-week workshop with playwright Edward Albee. That same year, Dogfall opened in Adelaide. Caleb’s latest play Men, Love and the Monkeyboy was produced at Sydney’s Darlinghurst Theatre and Riverside Theatres in 2008. The play won the 2008 Mitch Matthews award. Caleb is also the inaugural winner of the Australian Writers Guild's 2008 Interactive Media AWGIE for his work on Otzi - The Story of the Iceman. |
